This weeks list has a lot of the same guys on it as last week’s list. These guys are producing but for some reason they are available in many leagues. There’s a chance that at least one of these guys can help your team.

Football Injury Update

Kyle Orton is listed as probable for the Bears’ game at Green Bay on Sunday. Orton sat out the Tennessee gamed last week with a sprained right ankle.

Dolphins’ quarterback Chad Pennington was added to the injury report because of a sore foot. He’s listed as probable.

Falcons Running Back Turner says his hand injury is not a problem. Which is great news for Turner owners.

Steven Jackson has been ruled out of the 49ers game. A thigh injury forced the running back to miss practice on Friday.

Cliff Lee wins AL Cy Young

Cliff Lee has won this years AL Cy Young award, finishing a major league best 22-3 this season with a 2.54 ERA. He received 24 of 28 first-place votes and 132 points. Lee is the second consecutive Indians pitcher to earn the Cy Young, CC Sabathia won it last year.

Roy Halladay finished second in the voting with four first-place votes and 71 points. This season’s super closer K-Rod Francisco Rodriguez finished third with 32 points.

Basketball Injury Update

Pacers forward Danny Granger sits out game against Nets due to a right thigh cramp.

Charlotte Bobcats’ Jason Richardson will be out about a week following arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose is sitting out practice to rest a sore back, he started getting back spasms before Tuesday night’s loss to Atlanta but still played.

A sore ankle sidelines Thunder’s Durant against Magic. He is day to day and his status for Friday’s game at New York is undecided.

Shawn Marion was held out of Miami’s game against the Trail Blazers because of problems with a strained groin.

BJ Upton has shoulder surgery

Rays center fielder B.J. Upton had surgery on Tuesday to repair a labrum in his non-throwing left shoulder. It was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. Source

Upton apparently was dealing with shoulder damage all season. The damage/pain probably contributed to his unexpectedly low home run total this regular season. Upton should be ready to go in time for spring training though. Upton owners and fans are hoping a cleaned up shoulder will lead to numbers like his post-season explosion rather than his fairly disapointing regular season totals.

Lincecum beats out Webb for Cy Young

Lincecum beats out Webb to become the Giants’ second Cy Young winner. Lincecum received 23 of 32 first-place votes and 137 points in balloting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Brandon Webb finished 2nd with 73 points.

Lincecum was 18-5 with a 2.62 ERA and a major league-best 265 strikeouts, posting amazing numbers on a bad team.

Week 3 is upon us and injuries are already piling up. Top draft picks are under performing and you are already looking for a savior for your young season. Or if you’re lucky you’re just looking to prevent the other teams in your league from improving.
